Cleanwatts is proud to announce that we have received the Cities and Territories of the Future Award (“Prémio Cidades e Territórios do Futuro”) in the “Circular Economy and Decarbonization” category.
This award is attributed by APDC to “recognize pioneering projects, as well as transformative ideas and strategies, which make cities more livable, sustainable and economically viable”.
Cleanwatts’ 100 Aldeias (100 Villages) initiative meets these criteria and was recognized by the jury as an “innovation and social entrepreneurship project, focused on the low-density territories of Portugal, with the purpose of fighting energy poverty in rural communities through access to cheaper and locally produced clean energy, without the need of investment from the participants”. APDC also highlighted the fact that this initiative “stimulates the active participation of citizens in accelerating decarbonization and the energy transition in a fair, democratic and cohesive way”.
